Eric Savage wins Canada Post Literacy Award
Two YLC members were
recognized in the 2008
Canada Post Community
Literacy Awards.
Congratulations!
YLC student, Eric Savage won
the Individual Achievement award which celebrates the
achievements of adult
learners who overcome social
or economic barriers by
improving their literacy
skills.
Martha Shufelt, Eric’s tutor,
was a finalist for the Educator
award which honours
educators, tutors, and
advocates who have
demonstrated a commitment
to adult literacy.
Congratulations to you both.
Do you have any good music?
YLC is looking for music of any genre we can use to play during slide-show
presentations at our display booths at Brome Fair, Townshippers’ Day,
etc. Any lyrics that include allusions to literacy, She wrote me a letter or
Bookends; or positive direction, I’m on my way - would be appreciated.
Use your imagination - any suggestions would be appreciated and if you
have it on a CD even better. Call me. Vicky
