Tooter Job Description

Role of the Tooter
To increase awareness among the general public of the problem of illiteracy,
the Yamaska Literacy Council, and the services it offers

Training
The 12-hour Yamaska Literacy Council Basic Literacy Tutor Workshop

Commitment
A commitment of one year (summer excluded) is requested

Hours
A total of ten (10) hours per year

Place of Work
Depending on the activity involved, the Tooter may work at the YLC Centre,
out of home or at another location

Duties
May include:

• Greeting the public and disseminating information at special events and fairs such as the Brome Fair, Bedford Fair, Mansonville Multicultural Day, West Brome Storytelling Festival, etc.
• Participating in public relations events such as the Christmas parade
• Distributing publicity material such as posters, pamphlets, etc. in various communities on a regular basis and ensuring that the material is replaced as needed
• Any other activity that raises awareness of the Council and literacy
  issues
