Volunteer

Volunteers are the Yamaska Literacy Council’s most valuable resource.

YLC provides free quality training to all volunteers who wish to tutor a student.
The 12-hour training workshop addresses: information about the Yamaska Literacy Council, literacy statistics and issues, sensitivity to adults with low literacy skills, tutoring techniques, use of a variety of materials, goal setting and assessment, lesson planning, etc. All training is provided by qualified Trainers.

Supplementary training is offered to volunteers from time to time during the year.

Trained tutors receive free materials to use with students and are supported in their role by the YLC Coordinator.
